Plastic Vintage Historic CAB M69 Humbucker Mounting Ring
The M69 humbucker mounting ring was originally introduced by Gibson in the late 1950s, and was used on many of the earliest humbucker-equipped instruments and has since become the benchmark for vintage-correct restoration and builds.
These rings are made from Butyrate/CAB (Cellulose Acetate Butyrate) - the same family of material used on many original late-’50s and early-’60s guitar plastics. Unlike modern ABS plastics, Butyrate has a slightly softer, more organic appearance and ages in a distinctive way over time. It even comes with that 'authentic' smell! This material subtly shrinks, develops gentle patina, and takes on the character that collectors and vintage enthusiasts associate with original instruments. Because of this, CAB is widely regarded as the most authentic material for reproducing vintage-correct pickup rings.
Designed in the traditional M69 style, these rings feature the correct vintage profile and dimensions, making them ideal for historically accurate restorations, vintage-style builds, or replacing modern plastic parts with something closer to the originals.
